Vast showroom structures rise from the ground

Building work on a multi-million pound business development on the outskirts of Douglas is an at an advanced stage, with the first of three giant new structures due to be completed late this year.

Two car showrooms are being constructed for multi-franchise dealership Jacksons on Cooil Road in Braddan, along with an after-sales and vehicle service building.

Construction costs for the project, giving Jacksons a substantial foothold in the Isle of Man, are in the region of £14.5 million.

Developer Hartford Homes began work on the 6.8 acre site in June this year, with local contractors appointed to lay utilities, telecoms, a vast drainage scheme and install electricity substations.

Buildings will be handed over when completed, the first of which will be a showroom for Jacksons' value brand Motor Mall, an outlet for Fiat, VW and Ssangyong.

Completion of the overall site is due by May 2018 - the centrepiece a two-storey showroom for Jackson's prestige marques, which will see Bentley, Porsche and Aston Martin cars on display.
