Label of Manx provenance on way

Local produce to boast Island origin

A new universal label of Manx provenance is in the pipeline for local producers.

The sticker will be attached to produce which is grown, reared, caught or processed in the Island, and on products which contain a large number of Manx ingredients.

It's a project which has been attempted before - but the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture says the latest effort is part of a clear plan to grow the economic value of local food and drink.

A number of draft designs for the label have now been produced.

Members of the public are invited to comment on the designs at a series of focus groups, to be held a week next Monday and Tuesday (7th/8th November) from 6pm at Noa Bakehouse, Douglas.
