Culturally different approaches to insurance
The Manx branch of the Chartered Insurance Institute is providing industry figures with an introduction to Islamic insurance.
The Insurance Institute of the IOM is supporting chartered insurer and director of PB Consultants Ltd Paul Bromley, who'll present on his specialisms, Bancassurance, Bancatakaful, Family Takaful, and strategic alliances in EMEA and Asia.
Many Islamic scholars forbid 'conventional insurance' - labelling it as 'gambling' or 'usury' - whereas 'Takaful' is operated on a mutual 'bear ye one another's burden' basis.
He works with companies like Zurich, HSBC Group, AXA, Nexus and the Al Rajah Bank - adding to his 45 years of experience in the industry.
Tickets to the event on 30th March are free - it's set to start at 12:30pm.
