Hugo van Zyl remembered as 'incredibly kind and talented' family man
Manx Telecom has paid tribute to its Chief Technology Officer, Hugo van Zyl, following his death.
The company says his passing, which follows a very brief illness, has come as a profound shock to all who knew him.
A statement from Manx Telecom says: "Hugo was an outstanding leader and an incredibly kind and talented individual who touched the lives of everyone he met.
"He had a rare gift for connecting genuinely with people and a way of making everyone feel seen and valued.
"A proud and devoted family man, he made the Isle of Man his home and it was clear the Island meant a great deal to him."
Manx Telecom CEO Gary Lamb says: "Hugo was an exceptional person in every sense. He leaves behind a legacy not just in the work he did, but in the lives of every single person he encountered.
"Everyone who knew him will carry their own story and memory of him, and that is perhaps the greatest testament to who he was."
Manx Telecom says its deepest sympathies go out to Hugo's beloved family, Eunice, Michael, Abé and Liam, and all who loved him.
A remembrance page has been created at https://hugovanzyl.muchloved.com where friends, colleagues and the wider community are invited to leave a message or tribute.
