New-look Douglas Post Office unveiled

Former pub will host relocated business

Isle of Man Post Office has revealed its new-look Douglas Post Office, inside a former town centre pub.

When it opens in July, it’ll be inside the former Carnival pub – which used to be Strand 58, and is owned by Mannin Retail’s parent company Heron & Brearley.

The Post Office says the new premises are bigger than the current post office and the change of venue came after public and political opposition to putting it in the Spar store on Strand Street.

Post Office chairman Ray Harmer says it’s a good central location and he’s hoping for a good reception from customers.

There are still no definite plans for the Regent Street premises after the Post Office closes there – among the options being explored are redeveloping it into a large retail unit.
