A £1 million refurbishment programme at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas has been unveiled.
Twenty-two rooms at the premises on Loch Promenade have been given a makeover, to provide what Sleepwell Hotels says is 'unique international standard accommodation in the Isle of Man'.
Around £50,000 has been spent on each room, well over twice the industry standard of £20,000.
After consulting with local business executives, the outlay has bought king-size beds, timber floors, wet rooms and high speed Wi-Fi, among other things.
Managing director of the Sleepwell Hotel Group Mark Wilson told Elizabeth Cubbon he was confident the investment would pay dividends:
Tourist tax would be 'wrong move at the wrong time', says Douglas hotelier
Diesel price increases 'could put some taxi drivers out of business'
Interim census 'important for business as well as government'
Fuel retailer urges motorists to avoid refilling diesel until tomorrow
