Manx Tidal Energy CEO to give presentation
Offshore power for the Isle of Man will be explored at the next meeting of the Positive Action Group.
Managing Director of Manx Tidal Energy Steve Malley will give the presentation and take questions.
The company has recently been granted a survey licence to carry out preliminary work to determine the practicality and commercial viability of offshore electricity production.
MTE will investigate the possibility of a tidal array on an area of the seabed off the Point of Ayre.
In his presentation, Mr Malley will explain how such a development would operate, generate and transmit power.
He will also talk about the obstacles to be overcome, in particular environmental impact assessment, planning and UK subsidies which are currently under threat.
The meeting is at the Manx Legion Club at 7.30pm on Monday next week (November 30).
It's free and open to all.
