Method made an offence on June 5
Businesses touting for prospective custom by cold calling are in receipt of a fierce warning by the Office of Fair Trading.
It was prompted by reports of someone visiting addresses in the Onchan area yesterday (November 8).
People are told to reject advances, as the goods can't be verified or guaranteed.
The marketing method was made a criminal offence on June 5 this year - meaning anyone caught doing it could face conviction.
OFT CEO Mike Ball has this advice for individuals and businesses that aren't aware of the change in legislation:
Vet practice expanding farm and equine services
Cost of sending a letter on the Island to increase in January
Be aware of phishing this time of the year
