Manx-based billionaire John Whittaker's company Peel Holdings has made a bid to take over Pinewood Studios.
Pinewood Shepperton has received an £87.8 million offer after Peel built up a stake of just under 30 per cent in the studio.
Pinewood is best known as the home of the James Bond films, as well as the Harry Potter series, and has studios in Pinewood in Buckinghamshire, and Shepperton and Teddington in Middlesex.
Last month Pinewood announced a 31 per cent rise in pre-tax profits and unveiled an investment plan for small-budget British films.
