Star Wars and Bond movies boost for studios
Pinewood Studios have recorded record profits for the six months to the end of September.
The group's operating profits rose from £2.5 million to £7 million, though the Financial Times reports today that revenues slipped 0.7 per cent to £38.2 million.
TV revenues had also climbed more slowly than anticipated.
The figures reflect the fact the blockbusters "Star Wars: Episode VII and the latest Bond movie "Spectre" were produced at the studios.
Pinewood Studios, Shepperton Studios and Pinewood Wales have a total of 37 stages and three TV studios between them making the group the largest of its kind in Europe.
It's now wanting to expand further to allow it to compete with America rivals.
The Isle of Man govenment invested £24 million in Pinewood Shepperton though around half of its holding was sold earlier this year.
