Standard letter to UK to cost 47p
The cost of sending a letter from the Isle of Man to the UK is set to rise by almost 5% from next month.
Isle of Man Post Office is increasing the price of a stamp by 2p to 47p, citing extra fuel and transportation costs, and increased charges from commercial partners, as reasons for the hike.
The increase is among a raft of postage price rises due to come into effect from 15 May 2017.
The Post Office says 'modest' postage increases will be imposed on large letters and packets, to bring them in line with competitor tariffs.
However, next day Special Delivery and Parcelforce Worldwide postage prices are pegged for this year.
Chairman of the Post Office Julie Edge MHK says the changes are regrettable but inevitable - with operational costs rising and fewer people sending post.
