Primary school children swim to success

Lessons for teachers could change the way children learn to swim

Swimming lessons for young children could become an easier task thanks to a new partnership.

Accountancy firm Brown Craine has teamed up with the Isle of Man Swimming Association and the Department of Education and Children to train as many primary school teachers as possible to be swimming teachers.

The scheme has already trained 26 teachers from 21 schools to be ASA level one trained swimming instructors.

A competition was also launched for the children to design a logo for a reward badge, which Charley Kneen from Victoria Road School won.

Brown Craine's Basil Bielich says swimming is an essential life skill, especially for those living on an Island, and is thrilled to be involved with the initiative.
