Production of some bakery products stopped ahead of closure

Ramsey Bakery and Mr B's to close at the end of April

Production of a range of bread products has been stopped by Ramsey Bakery ahead of its impending closure.

Over the weekend the company announced it would be ceasing operations at the end of April describing it as a 'heart-wrenching' decision.

Staff at the bakery – and at Mr B's stores which are also closing – were given the news on Saturday.

A statement from Ramsey Bakery says its priority is to provide 'clarity and support' for the team – some of whom have been with the company for decades.

The statement adds: "We are also indebted to our many customers and suppliers who have supported us over the years and we would like to thank each and every one of them for their loyalty to us.

"It is our intention to continue to produce as many product lines as possible up to the closure date at the end of April primarily to ensure that arrangements can be made for alternative products to be available for our customers."

Production of most 400g loaves – as well as snack rolls and sub rolls – will not resume; the Manx Country range, primary bread rolls and 800g loaves will continue to be produced daily.
