New advisory board to boost BioMed

Collaboration aims to develop sector

There's fresh impetus for growth in the Island's niche BioMed sector.

A new Manx Healthcare and Life Sciences Advisory Board has been formed, in a partnership between government and the private sector.

It's a collaboration designed to support the cluster, which employs more than 100 staff, and has grown by 13% since it was established in 2013.

The 11 firms currently based here are involved in diverse areas - from device manufacture and clinical trials, to compliance affairs and data capture.

The Advisory Board comprises representatives from the Departments of Economic Developemt and Health and Social Care, industry entrepreneurs and academics.

The move stems from a sector strategy created in 2016, which aims to identify new opportunities, assist existing businesses, attract companies to locate in the Island and ultimately, diversify the Manx economy.
