The Palace Cinema will be closed for refurbishment for two weeks next month.
Both theatres are to get new seating, which is being brought in from a specialist company in Australia.
New vinyl and carpet is also being fitted by a local flooring company.
Sefton Group director of hotels and leisure Adrian Brockhouse says the project will revitalise the cinema-going experience in both Screen One and Screen Two.
After the refurbishment, the facilities may also be used for conferences, meetings and seminars.
The closure will be from Monday, September 5 to Sunday, September 18.
