Scout salute at Rotary 'fun-raiser'

Train jaunt for emergency aid projects

A Scout-themed event organised by Douglas Rotary club has raised more than £1000 for international emergency aid projects.

Rotarians, partners and guests dressed as boy scouts mingled with members of the Island's Northern Adventure Scouts on a steam train trip from Douglas to Castletown and back.

Memories flooded back as the current-day scouts organised quizzes, observation tests and knot tying in the train compartments.

The event was sponsored by Black Grace Cowley with refreshments courtesy of Heron and Brearley.

Funds raised will go towards buying shelter boxes and water aid in areas hit by natural disasters.
