Software head outlines his vision

The head of a Douglas-based software company says he hopes to have 200 million people using the firm's software by the end of this year.

Mark Shuttleworth of Canonical Software outlined his vision at a developer's conference in Hungary this week.

Canonical produces Ubuntu Linux, a free operating system that hopes to compete with Microsoft Windows.

Talking to programmers at the event in Budapest, Mr Shuttleworth said the last version of Ubuntu, released last month and codenamed Natty Narwhal, had set a high standard for users:
