Move would draw new road map for Sure
Sure Mobile could be granted new powers to expand its infrastructure across the Island pending approval by Tynwald today (15 Nov).
An amendment to the Telecommunications Act 1984 would allow the company easier access to roads to lay fibres, and alter the planning process for developing new infrastructure.
Sure says the move would provide additional value for customers, and stimulate innovation both within the company and its telecoms rivals.
Sue Strang of the Communications Commission explained what the new powers would provide:
New child employment rules come into force
Tourist tax would be 'wrong move at the wrong time', says Douglas hotelier
Diesel price increases 'could put some taxi drivers out of business'
Interim census 'important for business as well as government'
