The Agriculture Minister, Phillip Gawne, has met with representatives from the store Tesco to discuss local sourcing.
The idea is to explore how more local producers can be used by the store, not just on the Island but perhaps even exporting their goods for use in the UK.
A team from Tesco's Northern buying Office have come across.
Andrew Lees, Store Manager at lake Road in Douglas, says they are trying to see what they can do to promote locally and to ask the Minister about items on the Island. Mr Lees says they are open to any new products. He points out that local meat and flour products are already on show.
"Its a two way thing," he says. "We are looking to see how we can expand the partnership".
