UK postal strike threat does not include Manx staff

But IoM Post Office hopes industrial action there can be averted

Industrial action amongst postal workers in the United Kingdom does not affect Isle of Man Post Office staff.

Members of the Communication Workers Union in the UK have voted in favour of strike action in a dispute over pay.

The Manx post office says this does not involve its ‘loyal and hardworking staff’ and is reassuring customers it will keep them updated over possible impact on the postal service to and from the Island.

No dates have been set for the walkout and negotiations continue.

The chief executive of the Isle of Man Post Office, Simon Kneen, said: “Isle of Man Post Office is independent from the UK’s postal service and I am pleased to say that we have negotiated this year’s pay settlement with the unions which represent the majority of our colleagues at Isle of Man Post Office.

“While I hope any industrial action in the UK can be averted I’d like to assure our valued customers that we will do all we can to ensure any disruption to our customers is kept to a minimum if strike action should go ahead.”
