WellGen funding agreed

A Manx company has become the lead investor in a biotech company which is hoping to produce eat-yourself-thin foods.

Amphion Innovations has agreed a deal with American firm WellGen which has now received around £5 million in financing.

WellGen says the cash will be used to develop its line of nutraceuticals products, including an anti-obesity ingredient for use in functional foods.

It now plans to launch a human study of the ingredient’s effectiveness.
