
Manx businessman John Whittaker, the richest man on the Island according to the Times Rich List, has bought a significant stake in Europe’s largest property company.
The owner of Peel Holdings has bought four per cent of Land Securities, according to stock exchange filings, worth around £260m.
Mr Whittaker is now the third biggest investor in the group after Barclays and Legal & General, and bought the shares through his offshore company Albright Investments.
Land Securities holds more than £14 billion in property, primarily commercial space in central London.
