World Champion Janet Gray MBE to Visit the Isle of Man

This is a paid for promotion on behalf of Sight Matters.

The latest episode of 'Sight Matters Matters', the official podcast of Isle of Man sight loss charity Sight Matters, features guest Michelle Furness from ManninSight, a fundraising arm of the Sight Matters.

Michelle joins host Bob Harrison to discuss an inspiring event coming to the island in March 2026 - a special evening with Janet Gray MBE, an athlete and motivational speaker.

Janet, who lost her sight at the age of 21 due to a rare form of glaucoma, went on to become a three-time World Disabled Water Ski Champion.

Her journey – from life-changing diagnosis to international sporting success – is one of extraordinary determination.

After a serious accident during training that nearly claimed her life, Janet returned to competition and reclaimed her world title, proving that with courage and persistence, no obstacle is insurmountable.

As Michelle explains in the podcast, Janet’s visit will offer a unique opportunity to hear her story first-hand.

The event takes place on Friday 20th March 2026 at the Empress Hotel, Douglas.

Tickets are priced at £65 per person, which includes a three-course meal, tea and coffee, and Janet’s motivational talk with a chance for audience questions.

Tables of ten are available, but individual tickets can also be booked and all proceeds from the evening will go towards supporting the work of Sight Matters, which provides vital services for blind and visually impaired people across the Isle of Man.
