Cope says efforts are underway to reduce reliance on agency staff
Manx Care is still operating with a 20 per cent vacancy rate – meaning one in five positions within the health service is unfilled.
Last year it spent £30 million employing bank and agency staff to fill the gaps.
Chief executive Teresa Cope has told Manx Radio the health body is trying to reduce the dependency on these workers.
She’s also confirmed two consultant ophthalmologists have recently been appointed at Noble’s Hospital which will alleviate the reliance on locum staff in this speciality:
Donation to go towards Rebecca House's sibling programme
DoI to change rent-setting model for public sector housingĀ
Candidates could need to declare interests to stand in 2026 General Election
Customs and Excise office to relocate
