£250 fine for man who let off firework through open window

Sent in direction of three community support workers

A Ramsey man who let off a firework through an open window has been fined £250.

Jason Liam Christian, of Bircham Avenue Close, sent the rocket in the direction of three community support workers who were attending a property near his home.

At Douglas Courthouse yesterday (3 August) the 30-year-old admitted carrying out the offence.

Christian, was at the address of his associate who the staff were visiting, when he set the firework off at 11.30am on Wednesday (2 November); it landed on the roof of a nearby building.

Describing the behaviour as 'senseless' Christian's advocate said he had a problem with alcohol, and was already drinking at that point in the day, adding: "He fully accepts the wrongdoing."

Ordering Christian to pay £125 in prosecution costs Deputy High Bailiff Graeme Cook said he was ‘amazed’ that he hadn’t been charged with a more serious offence adding: “It must have been a terrifying experience.”
