34,000 people due to sail to the Island over TT

Steam Packet also carrying 13,000 motorcycles

More than thirty-four thousand people are due to travel to the Isle of Man, by sea, over the TT fortnight.

Figures released by the Steam Packet show the number of passengers expected between Tuesday this week, 24 May, and Wednesday, 8 June.

More than 13,315 motorcycles will also be carried during that period along with 4,843 cars and vans.

Brian Thomson is the Steam Packet managing director – he’s urging all those travelling to plan ahead:

The peak day for travel for vehicles is next Thursday, 2 June - the Spring Bank Holiday – and the peak day for passengers is the following day Friday, 3 June which is the Platinum Jubilee Bank Holiday.

The Steam Packet Company has also reported strong forward bookings for next year’s event.

So far more than 6,000 motorcycles, and 2,000 other vehicles, have provisionally been booked on a crossing alongside more than 10,000 passengers.
