Magistrates sentence 63-year-old for common assault
A Peel man has been fined £500 after headbutting a colleague in a pub during a work night out.
Stephen Hugh Kelly, of Raad Bridgeen, was socialising in The British on North Quay in Douglas on 8 December last year when the altercation happened.
The 63-year-old later pleaded guilty to common assault and was sentenced at Douglas Courthouse.
His advocate told the court his client had ‘clearly overreacted’ to what the other man had said to him.
Fining Kelly, and ordering him to pay prosecution costs of £125, Magistrates told him: “I think you’d be the first to admit you’re of the age where you shouldn’t be going around headbutting colleagues.”
