But 51% pass their driving tests in 2022

Just over half of people who’ve taken a driving test this year have passed.

Figures, for the year to date, from the Department of Infrastructure show 1258 people got their licence in 2022.

It represents a 51 per cent pass rate; 48 per cent of people passed on their first go whilst 57 per cent took five or more attempts.

There were 1207 people who failed.

Meanwhile, under half of those taking a theory test in 2022 passed - with a 45 per cent pass rate recorded.

There were 1024 passes and 1277 fails; half of those who did successfully complete it passed on their first attempt.

The figures were revealed as part of a response to a Freedom of Information request.
