Charles Coole aims to help Southern Befrienders
A 79-year-old man who is housebound due to health issues is playing the board game 'Patience' everyday until his 80th birthday to raise money for charity.
Charles Coole is doing it in aid of Southern Befrienders and those who are alone through lockdown.
He hopes to make as much as possible before his 80th birthday on Valentines Day.
Charles is keeping count of all games won and lost and says the idea came to him as he tests his wife's patience on a daily basis.
Mr Coole says:
'This fundraising is my daughter Caroline's idea and I know Southern Befrienders are a local, worthwhile charity.
I'm so happy to be able to help others, even though I'm not very mobile anymore and need a lot of assistance.
Playing patience, while my wife exercises hers, keeps me sane; that and the daily newspaper with crosswords and puzzles.
My family give me a lot of support so I want help those who aren't as fortunate.
I win some [games of patience], I lose some, but the big winner will be Southern Befrienders.'
Charles has already exceeded his £500 target and is currently on more than £800; he thanks everyone for their support and donations.
