43-year-old told to 'tread carefully' in coming months
A Peel man has been fined £800 after assaulting his ex-partner in an early morning row.
Edward James Taylor, of Reayrt Aalin, was waiting outside the woman’s property at around 1am on 6 November.
The 43-year-old began shouting at her as she returned from a night out before running and ‘lunging’ towards her; in a scuffle Taylor hit the woman in the face leaving her with a bruise and cut.
At Douglas Courthouse he pleaded guilty to common assault – the court heard he’d also sent the woman abusive messages the evening before.
High Bailiff Jayne Hughes described the ‘domestic incident’ as a serious offence which ‘must have been extremely distressing’ for the woman.
Fining Taylor, and ordering him to pay £125 in prosecution costs, she stopped short of making a restraining order telling Taylor: “You need to tread carefully in the coming weeks and months.”
