Haven Homes to start work on 'The Meadows' soon
A plan to build 96 new homes on land opposite Janet's Corner in Castletown will go ahead, after an appeal was turned down.
The development by Haven Homes includes 24 first time buyer properties, with the rest a mix of three, four and five bedroom homes.
An appeal over traffic safety the visual impact and was rejected by the Environment Minister Geoffrey Boot, following the recommendation of a planning inspector.
It means work on the development will begin shortly.
As well as 96 properties, it include new roads, car parking, landscaping and a route into the estate for vehicles via Victoria Road.
The original application was submitted by Haven Homes in 2018, but since underwent a number of changes due to objections by government over proposed access.
It's a development which is backed by local commissioners, who've stressed the need for more houses to support the growth of Castletown.
