Hooper suggests day off to boost voter turnout
An MHK has suggested having a national holiday on election days in a bid to boost dwindling voter turnout.
Lawrie Hooper says it might encourage those with busy working lives to engage with the democratic process, and could raise the profile of elections.
Today in the House of Keys he'll ask Policy and Reform Minister Chris Thomas whether the 'day off' proposal has been considered.
