A windy run up to Christmas has been promised

It's going to be a windy run-in to Christmas.

The weathermen are warning that tomorrow, Christmas Eve, it will get very blowy. Gusts of up to 70 miles an hour are on the cards.

It's quiet at the moment early in the morning on Monday but an intense low in the vicinity of the British Isles will start making its presence felt across the Irish Sea later today  and that will continue to be the feature of the weather through Christmas Eve.

The Steam Packet is checking things as they go. They say that,  on current forecasts,  this morning's trip scross to  Heysham and back by the Ben My Chree should be all right but, after that,  it a question of....."we'll look at things".

Sailings through the rest of the day and tomorrow are subject to the possibility of disruption. The Packet are due to issue updates around mid morning today.
