Abortion Bill passes another stage

Bishop rejects second reading

A landmark bill to legalise abortion in the Isle of Man has passed its second reading in the Legislative Council.

Members of Tynwald's upper chamber voted almost unanimously in favour of the Abortion Reform Bill, which was passed by the House of Keys in May.

Only the Lord Bishop, Peter Eagles, voted against the motion.

The Bill will now have its clauses scrutinised by LegCo at its next sitting on Tuesday, 26 June.
