CALM brings protest to parliament

Campaigners for change in the Island's abortion laws have held a demonstration outside Tynwald this morning.

Supporters of the Campaign for Abortion Law Modernisation (CALM) lobbied politicians as they arrived for this morning's sitting.

They want to see Manx legislation brought in line with the UK's.

Abortion is legal in the Isle of Man, but in limited circumstances.

A small group of pro-life campaigners from Grace Baptist Church in Peel held a counter-protest.

Pastor Glen Walters said they oppose abortion itself - and will resist any change in existing laws.

However, one of CALM's founders Samantha Morris was pleased with the generally positive reaction the protest received:
