Abortion service details to be revealed

Ashford to outline plans during Tynwald questions

Details of how the Isle of Man will implement abortion legislation and run the service will be revealed in Tynwald this morning.

Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford made the announcement in the court last night, as members began debating a motion calling for a select committee to be set up.

It came from Kate Lord-Brennan MLC, who wants one to scrutinise the plans.

Mr Ashford responded by saying he was against the idea, and told members more would be revealed when the debate resumed: (play audio)

Tynwald, and this debate, will resume at 10.30am. It will be followed by the question paper.
