Chief Minister answers urgent Tynwald question on Assisted Dying Bill

'There is absolutely no constitutional problem' between the Isle of Man and UK governments.

That's from the chief minister, who's been updating Tynwald on the Island's Assisted Dying Bill.

The legislation came to parliament as a Private Member's Bill from Ramsey member Dr Alex Allinson, who will also be delivering a statement to members later on today (21 April).

In the last few days, it was confirmed the UK Government is unable to recommend the Manx legislation for Royal Assent at this time.

But Alfred Cannan rebuked suggestions this morning that the move undermines the Island's independent legislative process:

Meanwhile a number of protestors gathered outside Tynwald to oppose the Assisted Dying legislation.
