Consultation launched into future of seafood industry
An agreement with the UK regarding Manx fisheries has now become obsolete.
That's from a member of the Environment, Food and Agriculture department as a consultation opens today ahead of a draft fisheries statement to set out the aims and objectives for the Island's seafood industry.
The process, which will run until the 24 February, will address the challenges and opportunities faced by the industry in a post Brexit world.
Currently the Island's fisheries relationship with the UK is governed by an agreement dating back to 2012 which requires fisheries in Manx waters to be managed in line with the UK's obligations under the EU Common Fisheries Policy.
