AI position can't be recruited from existing talent pool says CEO

Digital Isle of Man describes it as 'huge role'

Government can’t recruit a new head of artificial intelligence from within its existing talent pool.

That’s the message from the Department for Enterprise which has described the position as a ‘huge role’.

It’s offering a £100,000 annual salary for the selected candidate who will be responsible for creating a national AI strategy.

Jason Bissell, a board member for Digital Isle of Man, and Lyle Wraxall, the chief executive, spoke to Manx Radio: 

The job opportunity has raised concerns from some Manx politicians. 

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Tim Glover says it's another example of why he voted against the Island Plan. 

Meanwhile Douglas North MHK John Wannenburgh exclaimed: '"Wow. £100k a year. Where you can."
