Aim to create 600 new jobs on Island in 2023

Department for Enterprise publishes Department Plan

There are hopes to create, and fill, a minimum of 600 new jobs on the Isle of Man in the next year.

The target has been laid out in the Department for Enterprise's Department Plan for 2023-24.

That includes 300 new roles across the digital sectors, 100 in financial services, 150 as part of the visitor economy and 50 new roles across the Island's export and local economy sectors.

The DfE says those targets will be assisted by Locate Isle of Man, with a minimum of 300 active relocations, and by Enterprise Support creating a minimum of 300 new roles.

It's all part of government's Island Plan which aims to increase the population to 100,000.

The document also sets out a plan to support the retention of over 37,500 private sector jobs and the delivery of a new Workforce and Skills Strategy alongside the DESC.

There's more on updating Employment Legislation - we've heard previously of that new Bill to be introduced to the legislative branches in May with reforms covering areas such as family rights, zero hours contracts and whistleblowing.

The department also talks of brownfield site regeneration, through Manx Development Corporation and the Island Infrastructure Scheme, and launching new and revised Enterprise Support Schemes to support and facilitate private sector investment and growth.

The DfE's Department Plan will be put before Tynwald in May 2023 - you can read it HERE.
