Alfred Cannan has thanked Dr Allinson for his input

Alex Allinson has stepped down as treasury minister.

It's as the chief minister is reshuffling his Council of Ministers this morning (19 January).

The Ramsey MHK was expected to deliver the Island's budget in Tynwald next month.

Alfred Cannan has thanked Dr Allinson for his input but says there are divergence in policy matters.

“I am extremely grateful to Dr Alex Allinson for the considerable effort he has made on behalf of our Island during the difficult times of COVID, the cost of living crisis in 2022 and developing our island’s infrastructure scheme."

The statement continues:

"I am redefining this government’s approach to priorities within the remaining term of this administration.

"There has been increasing divergence in the prioritisation of policy initiatives and I am refreshing my Council of Ministers to meet the delivery objectives necessary for the benefit of the Island.

"This is a time for clarity and purpose I have determined that a Ministerial reshuffle is necessary. This is now underway and there will be updates made throughout the day."
