Serving Chief Minister confirms plans to re-run in September
Alfred Cannan has confirmed his intention to stand in the 2026 General Election.
Mr Cannan - who is also the Chief Minister - is planning to run again for a position to represent the constituency of Ayre & Michael.
Announcing his bid, he says 'we all know that there are many challenges facing us but there are also many opportunities', adding 'recognising the issues is one thing; delivering meaningful and achievable policy to advance our Island another matter entirely.'
Mr Cannan is the sixth candidate to confirm plans to stand for the constituency of Ayre & Michael.
The other candidates are Julia Bell, Stephen Broad, Tim Johnston, Mary Phillips and Paul Weatherall.
The 2026 General Election is due to take place on Thursday, 24 September.
