All clear for Port Erin beach

Full stretch now open

Authorities in Port Erin say there is 'no evidence' of any further fuel pollution on the shore.

A large stretch of the beach was closed on Sunday, after a 'widespread light film' of diesel was discovered.

The incident sparked fears over the potential impact on local wildlife, and upcoming events such as the Festival of the Sea.

Inspectors have been on the site this afternoon, and have now confirmed the fuel has evaporated and the beach is once again safe to go on.

The full area has reopened to the public.
