All-Island 40mph limit won't be permanent, says chief constable

Temporary measure brought in to reduce collisions

The head of the Island's police insists there are no plans to keep the all-Island 40mph speed limit after the peak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The restriction was brought in last month in a bid to cut the risk of serious crashes, and therefore keep resources at the hospital available for Covid-19 patients.

Chief Constable Gary Roberts says this is just a temporary measure in response to the outbreak and not a permanent measure:
