Applications to grow cannabis expected by February

Gambling Supervision Commission appointed to oversee industry

It's expected applications to grow cannabis for export on the Isle of Man will start to be considered from February next year.

The Gambling Supervision Commission has been appointed to licence and supervise the industry, with full legislation expected to be in place next month.

An update from the Department for Enterprise says it's hoped the first approvals will be in place before April next year to coincide with the growing and harvesting season.

Applications for low-THC outdoor cultivation will be prioritised at first to meet the growing timeframe, with the high-THC market expected to follow later in the year.
