Are you confident in the Manx electoral system?

Stats say Island compares well to other jurisdictions

Statistics would suggest there's a bigger public involvement in national politics on the Isle of Man than in other comparable jurisdictions.

It's thought the turnout in Jersey for this year's general election was less than 40% - and that's even with reduced numbers on the electoral roll.

The statistics were posted on social media by Reform Jersey, the jurisdiction's only registered political party.

With its one and only candidate in the election successfully voted in, Chairman Sam Mézec, the party said 'we need serious reform to restore confidence in our electoral system'.

That was compared to a statistic in Guernsey, where there was a 45% turnout for a mid-term referendum.

Meanwhile, however, the turnout for the 2016 House of Keys General Election on the Isle of Man was 53% - based on just under 60,000 registered electors [59,963] across twelve constituencies.
