Ashford: 'Cutting elective surgery backlog a priority'

Availability of anaesthetists currently an issue

Cutting the backlog for elective surgeries on the Isle of Man is a high priority.

That's according to the health and social care minister who appeared on Manx Radio's Mannin Line today.

David Ashford says issues with the availability of anaesthetists has impacted procedures in the last few weeks.

He also admits the waiting times, particularly for orthopaedic operations, aren't acceptable but says work is being done to tackle the problem:
