Attack accused due in court

A 35 year old Ballasalla man accused of causing grievous bodily harm will appear in court this morning.

David Anthony Mitchell of Quines Close was arrested following an early morning disturbance on the Clagh Vane housing estate nine days ago.

He is also facing charges of affray and possessing an offensive weapon.

The man he’s accused of wounding, Alex Messenger, remains in a UK hospital with head and facial injuries.

Meanwhile, a Port Erin man is due in court after more than £100,000 worth of cannabis was seized from a boat in Port St Mary last Thursday night.

Forty-five year-old Lee Kevin Watterson of Gleneagles Apartments denies production of cannabis and possession with intent to supply.

A 24 year-old Douglas man has already admitted the same offences, along with a separate charge of possessing cannabis.
