Baby loss, Budget and Westmoreland Village for HoK today

19 questions tabled for political sitting

A Douglas South MHK will quiz the health minister about plans to introduce baby loss certificates on the Isle of Man.

Sarah Maltby has tabled the question for Lawrie Hooper in the House of Keys today (12 March).

The United Kingdom has launched a voluntary certificate scheme to recognise the grief parents experience after losing a baby before 24 weeks gestation.

The question is one of 19 which have been set down for the sitting.

Arbory, Castletown and Malew MHK Jason Moorhouse will ask the chief minister about the discussions the Council of Ministers has had about increasing charges and fares.

He’ll also ask the infrastructure minister how many people have dodged paying a bus fare in the last three years.

Both Mr Moorhouse and Onchan MHK Julie Edge have tabled questions relating to this year’s Budget – the latter asking what ‘extra-sectoral meetings’ took place to discuss elements of it before it was announced.

Douglas Central MHK Chris Thomas will ask the treasury minister how the senior living block in the proposed Westmoreland Village will be financed.

He’ll also ask the DoI Minister Tim Crookall whether residents of the village would be eligible for disc zone parking permits and if he’ll make a statement about controlling on-street parking in surrounding highways.

Douglas North MHK David Ashford will raise the subject of ‘Ring’ doorbells – he wants to know whether a review of the annual charge levied for data protection registration is being considered.
