Bands to unite for first Port Erin Festival of Brass

A new event taking place in the south of the Island

Brass bands from across the Island will join forces this weekend for the first Port Erin Festival of Brass.

Five bands will perform across three venues as part of the event which takes place today (Saturday, 17 July) between 1pm and 5pm.

The bands include Castletown Metropolitan Silver Band, Crosby District Silver Band, Ramsey Town Band, Rushen Silver Band and Ellan Vannin Pipes and Drums.

They’ll play, on rotation, at the Colas/Bushy’s stage on the lower promenade, the railway station platform and in the gardens at St. Catherine’s Church.

The finale will also take place in the gardens when all brass bands will play en masse.

The Port Erin Festival of Brass is being organised by the Rushen and Western Mann Rotary, sponsored by Santander International and is another event being supported by government's Domestic Events Fund.
